Africa: Hichilema Swears in As Zambia's President for Another 5-Year Term
Hichilema has been sworn in as Zambia's President for another five-year term after winning the General Election held on August 13, 2026.
Hichilema was sworn in today, September 1, 2026, at the National Heroes Stadium in Lusaka during a ceremony attended by leaders from Zambia and other countries.
Among those attending the ceremony was Tanzania's President, Dr Samia Suluhu Hassan, along with other African heads of state and government leaders.
The victory allows Hichilema to continue leading Zambia for another five years after securing the mandate of the people in the August 13, 2026 General Election.
